Q Build Day

12/18/2022

Been so busy with the shop haven't had time to talk about my trip back to Q...

While it's no surprise to any of our clients, I've been impressed by the qualiy of Q's product since I first purchased my Sugar Weasel.  That lead to a Fix in 6.5, a Mini Fix in 300 Blackout and then ulimately us becoming a direct dealer.

While I wasn't able to make it back to their first headquarters I figured it was best to get out there as time allowed to checkout their second building before I was too late for that one.  Got an invite and carved out a few days over Haloween to fly back.

First thing I'll note is what a pain in the ass it is to get to Dover from Salt Lake City, or at least the way I did it... Direct flight to Boston seemed simple enough then the Uber driver coudln't find me at the airport pickup.  30 mintues after he pulled his head out of his ass and I guided him to me I hoped in his car.  Not five minutes after that he annouced "I can't take you all the way to New Hampshire".  Guess there's a first time for everything and he dropped my ass in the middle of nowhere without a ride.

Many hours later I ended up in Dover about a mile from HQ. Woke up the next morning and rallied over to meet the team and check out the operation.  Had a great tour of the production floor, engineering, sales, marketing, etc.  Everyone that I met seemed genuinely stoked to be playing a role in buidling dope shit.

After a full day of conversation we called it a night and returned the next morning for build day.  Aside from 8.6 I didn't know what I what type of configuration I wanted to build.  After talking it over with Kevin, I settled on an 8" 8.6 Fix and a 12.5" Supdef Mini Fix.

While I've built plenty of guns there is something special about putting one together with the engineer who designed the gun.  Explaining the history of how things came to be as you go, answering questions, and pointing out easter eggs you didn't know existed.  If you have the desire and the ability to do a build day, I highly recommend it.

Both builds arrived in Utah this week and now the fun begins... dialing them in and customizing things just the way we want before we go put em through their paces!
